Currently, 80 terminals have been deployed in four months on nearly 35 sites that cover 50% of the municipalities of the agglomeration, knowing that in the long term the objective is to reach the 100% of the territory of the agglomeration Tourangelle. The first hotspots are spread around the tourist places, gardens, museums, cultural places as well as close to some places of sports activities.

Before embarking on such a deployment, tour (s) plus completed a six-month testing phase with the QoS telecom operator that was chosen after the consultation. This phase of experimentation confirmed that there was a demand and a need, since on the first terminals installed from June 1 to September 30, tour (s) plus counted almost 40 000 separate users and 300 000 connections.

Given the large number of tourists, especially foreigners, who visit each year the historical heritage of the agglomeration, tour (s) plus wanted to have a network of free WiFi hotspots requiring a simple and quick connection procedure possible, without application download or registration. The only limitation is the duration of free internet access which is limited to 1 hour per day and per terminal.

Pour Patrick Sottejeau, chargé de mission DSI à l’aménagement numérique du territoire de Tour(s) plus : "operate a network of WIFI hotspots in free access to the scale of a settlement is a full-time job that requires specific skills that are not within the purview of a settlement." Aspects such as filtering or security, QOS Telecom appeared to us as a telecommunications operator independent quite capable of assuming all technical responsibilities and legal own of such public access to the Internet. However, we keep control of collection of the Internet we operate in-house broadband via fiber optics. "So, the WIFI device implemented by QOS Telecom is completely independent of the information systems of Tour (s) more and offers an excellent quality of service".

Pour Jean-Luc Volcovici, Directeur Général de QOS Telecom : «The WIFI system deployed by QOS Telecom in the agglomeration of towers is based on three technical highlights: a "smart-wireless infrastructure" of the manufacturer of terminals Ruckus Wireless, links collection multifeatured (xDSL, 4 G, fiber) and a platform of services, virtualized, centralized and hosted in our cloud private.» Among these services, the customer has a control panel online offering the possibility to visualize in real time the number of users of the WIFI on its network of terminals and the attendance of each of them. Through WIFI deployed across the territory, the settlement will also consider changes for SmartCity applications using available WIFI connectivity and spreading on the connection of targeted content portal".

All these qualitative ingredients of the solution offered by QoS Telecom coupled with the quality of Internet access of the agglomeration Tourangelle allows to reach on each WiFi hotspot a symmetric flow of 20 Mbit/s, which represents a comfort of use which the first users are particularly satisfied.

Amount in power Crescendo, Tower (s) plus will dispose at the end of this year 100 public WiFi hotspots installed and this capacity would be led to triple in the coming years, especially via the widening of the WiFi offer to the public transport of the agglomeration.
