Almost a year after the passage of the city centre of Dijon in ZTI (International tourist area), Dijon has just equiped its hyper-centre with a free Wi-Fi network consisting of twelve WiFi outdoor terminals deployed by QoS Telecom in less than 15 days and then 26 terminals within the next 15 days. This is a feat on the part of QoS Telecom in terms of responsiveness and speed of deployment.

The service is operational since June 21 in the Hyper-centre pedestrian (Axe garden Darcy > Place of liberation, including the street of freedom, but also, for example, the garden of the Archaeological Museum) and it has just been extended on all the following locations (Gare Guillaume Tell, Red Hat, passage Dauphine, Francois Rude, theatres, town Square, rue des Forges/Dukes Square , Sevigné ...). The aim of this new WiFi network is to facilitate the lives of the inhabitants, the traders and the tourists and strongly boost the attractiveness of the territory, especially the international. In order to optimize their installation, these terminals have taken place on the equipments that already support the video-protection cameras.

During the connections, the procedure is the one classically proposed by QoS Telecom to the metropolises: once the network Dijon-Métropole-WiFi detected by the smartphone and after acceptance of the conditions of use (no form to fill, no email address to validate), the user is entitled to an hour of connection of quality, renewable without limit, in nomadic or sedentary use.

In terms of capacity, WiFi hotspots are connected to the fiber optics of the city of Dijon for the collection of the Internet, which ensures an impeccable quality of service and sufficient flows for a large number of simultaneous users.

In a few weeks, QoS Telecom has recorded 130 000 sessions, 8500 unique users and 3 TB of exchanged data. QoS Telecom will also provide the city of Dijon with the data of the connections that ultimately feed the city's OpenData project.

Finally, the WiFi network set up by QoS Telecom in Dijon will be shared between the general public and the city's agents who will also be able to access the city's computer resources in a mobility situation.

In terms of this, an interfacing is also provided in the database used to authenticate users of the application "MyDijon" with the QoS Telecom platform "SpotQOS".
